Know Your Fabrics

We love clothes. We don't love realizing the cute sweater we just found is 100% polyester.

Not only do synthetic materials wreak havoc on our health, but they also degrade under friction, pill over time, and trap heat and odors. Natural fabrics, on the other hand, grow softer and more comfortable with age without losing structural strength.

That's why we prioritize natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk, wool, cashmere, etc. Our goal is to help you find pieces you’ll love wearing and feel good about choosing.

Here are our favorites:

COTTON

The everyday favorite.

Soft, breathable, comfortable, and easy to wear. There's a reason cotton ends up in everything from your favorite lived-in tee to the dress you reach for all summer.

We love it for: Tees, dresses, sweatshirts, pajamas & everyday staples.

The feel: Soft + familiar.

LINEN

Wrinkles welcome.

Light, breathable, and made from flax, linen is basically made for warm days and easy outfits.

We love it for: Dresses, matching sets, pants, shorts & breezy tops.

The feel: Airy + relaxed.

SILK

The fancy one.

Smooth, lightweight, and naturally beautiful.

We love it for: Dresses, skirts, camis, blouses & special-occasion pieces.

The feel: Smooth + luxurious.

WOOL

Your cold-weather best friend.

Warm, breathable, and naturally insulating.

We love it for: Sweaters, cardigans, coats & layers.

The feel: Cozy + warm.

CASHMERE

Wool's extra-soft cousin.

Comes from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats and is loved for being incredibly soft and warm without feeling bulky.

We love it for: Sweaters, cardigans & scarves.

The feel: Soft. Like, really soft.

HEMP

The underrated one.

Hemp is a strong, durable plant fiber with a naturally relaxed texture. It can feel a little like linen and gets softer with wear.

We love it for: Tops, pants, dresses & casual pieces.

The feel: Textured + lived-in.

What We Avoid

While we prioritize natural fabrics, you'll occasionally find thoughtfully chosen blends that help the clothing item stretch or feel more comfortable. We'll always list the full fabric composition on the product page, so you know exactly what you're getting.

You'll never find polyester, nylon, or acrylic at Fifth Stone.

That's intentional.

We know synthetic fabrics have their place, but our goal is to make shopping for natural-fiber clothing easier, not harder.

With love,
Fifth Stone
